What is Alcoholism?
Alcohol is legal in many countries and is considered harmless in terms of it's drinking but doesn't mean that consuming it in high amount would be safer. Just like other form of substance abuse, by consuming high amount of alcohol or drinking it in abnormal patterns, people become addicted of alcohol as well which has negative effects on person's health, resulting in dangerous and sometimes deadly addiction.
And according to a research, people who consume high amount of alcohol has an average life span of 24-28 years shorter than those who don't consume alcohol.
Alcoholism can also include binge drinking, which is defined as more than five drinks for men or more than four drinks for women within a two-hour period. There are certain physical signs and symptoms as well as mental and emotional Symptoms of Alcoholism.

People with long-term alcoholism may be able to have several drinks before appearing intoxicated.
